Overview

The focus of this 3 day/2 night mountain trek is to combine the beauty and serenity of the high mountains with the fundamentals of yoga and meditation. The spectacular views and the remoteness of our camp provide the perfect setting for you to relax, refresh, and recreate. This trip will be a balance of semi-strenuous activity, calming meditation, and healing yoga to round out a unique experience. Jackson Hole Mountain Guides will provide all of the tents, stoves, fuel, cooking equipment, water filters, medical and safety supplies, and food and drink for breakfast and dinner. Your hosts will prepare and serve all of the food and assist in setting up tents and organizing camp. Guide services and yoga instruction are included as well.

Itinerary

We will meet at Sunlight Sports at 5:00 pm on the evening before the trip departs to perform a quick gear check and divide up group provisions.

Day 1:

We will depart Cody at 5:30 am the following morning and drive to Red Lodge where we will enjoy a delicious no host breakfast at Cafe Regis. From there we will travel on to Mystic Lake Trailhead located on the West Rosebud River. Once we arrive at the trailhead we will proceed to hike up the Mystic Lake and Phantom Lake trails to a our destination. The hike is approximately 7.1 miles in length and 4,100 feet of elevation gain. Once we are settled into our camp we will do a session of stretching and regenerative yoga followed by a delicious and nutritious meal provided by your hosts.

Day 2:

The day will begin with hot drinks and a morning yoga session which will set the tone for the day. After breakfast you will get to choose from a variety of activities like hiking and/or photography or just relaxing in camp. There will be an afternoon yoga session followed by dinner and an evening meditation.

Day 3:

Once again we will start the day with hot drinks and morning yoga. After breakfast we will break camp and head back down the trail to the shores of Mystic Lake where we will take a break for more yoga and perhaps a dip in the lake for those who desire a brisk swim. A short 3 1/2 mile hike from there will get us back to trailhead around 3:00 pm.

Beartooth Wilderness trips, climbs, and classes are based out of Cody, WY, unless other arrangements have been made with your guide. The closest airport is Yellowstone Regional Airport. Please plan on having your own local transportation; it’s a good idea to reserve rental cars as early as possible.  For significant climbs, please plan on arriving a day or two before your departure date to acclimatize. There are numerous accommodations and camping options near the Cody office. Jackson Hole Mountain Guides provides most of the food other than drinks and lunch/snacks for multi-day trips (not classes); our office will fill you in on the details before your trip.  All supplies must be purchased in town before the trip.
