About Phil Powers

Phil Powers has led dozens of expeditions to mountains in the Americas and Pakistan. He made the first ascent of Lukpilla Brakk’s Western Edge and the Washburn Face on Denali. In 1992 he made the first winter traverse of the Cathedral Peaks in the Tetons  with Greg Collins and Gary Wilmot. He has climbed two 8,000 meter peaks–K2 and Gasherbrum II–both without the use of supplemental oxygen. Phil is a certified Rock Guide and the author of “Wilderness Mountaineering.” He is currently the CEO of the American Alpine Club, an active climber and skier and and an owner and guide at JHMG. He lives with his wife and children in Denver, Colorado.
